About the author

I've been tinkering for ages. 

Post-high school, I worked on PATRIOT missiles for a few years, and got out. I worked on ROVs for a year, before I realized it was time to go back to school. I tried my had at engineering, but ADHD really got in my way. Eventually I graduated with an English degree, and promptly got into fine woodworking. 

I went to one of the best schools for fine woodworking in the world: the North Bennet Street School. And then I set up shop building fine furniture. I did that for about 7 years, as chronicled here. Eventually I stopped doing that, took some time off, and then spent a few years building carbon fiber prototype aircraft at an outfit called Terrafugia, in Woburn, MA. And that was my first real exposure to 3d printing, because we used a lot of 3d printed parts for jigs and fixtures. I was fascinated, and wanted to learn more. 

Summer of 2020, I bought my first printer, and I've been having fun with it ever since. 

I'm fascinated by jigs and fixtures and the process of making and manufacturing things. The interesting part of this particular hobby is that the end product can make jigs and fixtures and parts for the next end product. So I anticipate that this will be a lot of fun, for a good long time. 

I'm confident in the skill set that I have. I'm also confident that it's nowhere near complete, so I have a few things yet that I want very much to learn. This blog will chronicle that journey.
